What a splendid ride out to Appletreewick for the Craven Arms Beer Festival with a spot of camping at the brilliant Masons Campsite, a mere 200 odd yards away.
Over the gated road, down to Bolton Abbey, via the Cav Pav - didn't stop as there was beers to be had - took the back road - rather lu...
Might be time to get the warmer socks out. Which reminds me that I need to find my winter shoes, though I can only remember where one of them are. Funny thing, last nights ride was much warmer.
Wow, I knocked two minutes of my time up Bog Lane.

Quick little ride out to see if the wiring of the dyno hub light worked, and it did :)
That SuperNova E3 PRO is still a fantastic light. I do really like the beam and the warmth/colour of the light. I have no problem with seeing what is ahead on the darkest of country lanes or the towpath next to...
We went out for a wee ride out to Bolton Abbey via Barden Moor, with our friend wowbagger. We faffed around for to long, as we always tend to do before a ride. The late departure meant that I had to rush off early and leave Peli and wow as I had to be back in time for work. So most photos are from P...
YES, I passed 500 miles in a year today \o/ Take that Kajsa, Amanda and The Whip aka Alicia :)
I got one of these Free Pint things again today - boy is that a good carrot - so I rode out for a quick spin to the pub. Via one of the "street" vendors who sell flowers, carved things and honey. Got a...
erm Blackberry hill ... What a jolly ride, sun, views and Peli.
What a splendid weekend, our good friend PG Tips came for a visit. Loads of laughter and natter late into the night last night. Today we squeezed in a walk around Embsay reservoir as the fog lifted with Tilley. Then we packed the bikes onto the car and drove to Gargrave, cycled to Malham. And it wou...
I went out for a quick spin because the weather was nice. Sadly I didn't get to take anymore photos, because the battery was flat. I managed to get this one before I couldn't power the camera up again. Every time I see this flower I think of my grandmother as it was her favourite flower.
12 quick...
Yes, I know that it is tomorrow, but getting ready + bringing the bike out the door takes longer than, walking the long way to work. So I did it today and which would also mean that I'm not too tired tomorrow night.
Ride took me up the steepest hill yet 20%, which I managed. Just past the steepe...
I set off out not really knowing where I was going, the weather was nice and I fancied a few miles.
I ended up at the bottom of Barden Road in Embsay and went - why not give it a go. I set myself a target to get to the first turn and kick up, if I could do that I would be happy. Arrived and felt g...
So my nice relaxing evening ride into the sunset had a sting to it. Found a minus to wearing short and riding a bent. Other than that it was a nice quick spin on the canal in lovely sunshine.
Well it had to be done, a one week wedding anniversary ride.
Out to Malham, pub lunch and then back. Started a bit grey but then cleared up to be a stunning day for riding.
Sadly I ended up with a slow visit, boy does a bent handle weird when front wheel goes down. Which is the fastest I ever...
Ah, standing in supermarket car park having a snack to eat, we haven't done that for a long time. Many a time we have done that both with happy memories and miserable wet and cold memories questioning why we went out for a ride.
I know, I'm repeating myself but it is such a great feeling to be o...
Yesterday I head the utterly gutting sad news, that we have lost yet another good egg, David aka Jellied. We meet through a random cycling forum, pootles, work (cycle training, Dr Bike etc) and even a beer festival.
Sadly we both let busy lives so we didn't to meet that often. But when we did it...
Today I took a ride out to liberate a beer from the evil Over Lords erm landlord. Who wasn't evil at all as they let me cash in my free beer voucher. Ok, it was only for a pint of numbers, aka 1664, but it did hit the spot. Since I set out too hard and had to stop and rest on the hill out of Bra...
Wonderful day out on the bike with a friend from "down there south", who were trying his best to get lost up north.
Gratefully he didn't, and we meet up at the Dalesman Cafe in Gargrave for some fuel aka a fry up, just before they opened their doors. After a good natter we mounted our steeds and...
Went out for a little pootle with Peli. She got to see her horses, which is nice. One the steepest part of the hill our of Bradly, I hit some cow much - the joy of living rural - did a wheel spin which was rather fun :)
Overheard (upon spotting my bike) :
Kid 1: wow look at that
Kid 2: I want...
Went out for a warm up, so we are ready for the last day of the tour. Looking forward to the women's race. Hmm, GPS lost about 2 miles some how, I must have faffed a bit.
Though look at that - eight yes 8 PR's \o/
In sympathy with the pro's on the Tour de France, I decided to also not cycle Mount Ventoux today.
It was the - longest, fastest, less resting, fewest stops, most climbed - ride I have done since coming back to riding. And I feel good, though lets see how the legs are for tomorrow time trail, Migh...
Went out for a little ride with Peli today and the song Riding with Sue got stuck in my head. Many versions out there, but D-A-D's version, on their fantastic album "Call of the Wild", is of-course the best - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rKqjtNhSVSQ. Here is some of the lyric that spun ar...
Today's ride was rather eventful.
One of the mini narrow boats, that people hire for the day, tried to beach itself. I spotted it right on the other bank, coming at full sail - yeah I know, but you know what I mean - out from the over hanging trees. Which mean that the cap't had already stuffed...
Avoided one hill by going the long way around. Had to stop for a breather on Bog Lane. Explore some gravel track, which I might explore more another day, when it is not raining. Hit the canal for the extra bit to get over the 12 miles.
First ride in traffic, got plenty space, long hill (hard work) and I should have passed the 100 miles on Tigger :) and I did some stones too, time to relax and watch the wee pootle in France, might find a homebrew for support :)
First ride outside on my new bike. No pain what so ever in my arms and hands, which makes this the first ride on a bike in over three years that didn't hurt - as in utterly painful/agony/aw!
I took Tigger, as he is named, down to the flat bit at the bottom of the hill. After two wobbling starts, n...
Today we went out on our first ride on our fixed bicycles in nearly two years. Now that is a different experience to our Surly Long Haul Truckers, which we have pretty much not been off since we got them two years ago.
We can really feel our muscles now even after only 14 miles around Richmond Par...
