Melbourne, Great Ocean Road, Grampian mountains, Metung, Mt. ???.

Day 389-391 - Jan 28-30 : Melbourne
The ferry from Tasmania arrived on time and it was wonderful to disembark and see Peli's great friend Fiona and her flatmate Chris who'd come to collect us. Many hours of chatting and tea drinking ensued. Peli and Fi used to share a flat in London so they had a great catch-up. Since it was Australia Day weekend we had a wee drive out to Mt ??? where we had a wander. On a normal day we would have had a great view, but the heat haze and the smoke from the bush fires was hanging around.
Fi treated us to a trip around her favourite area of Melbourne, Fitzroy, and we explored the city's many laneways and down into the CBD, aka the city centre for us non-Australians. They do like their TLAs Down Under (Three Letter Acronyms).
Day 392-394 - Jan 28 - Feb 2 : Great Ocean Road
After a late start - this always happens when in a new place - we borrowed our friends' car and headed south towards the Great Ocean Road. We had just passed Geelong when the heavens opened up, which made the next bit rather hard to drive. In Axx we asked about the weather at the tourist information office. Let's just say that their understanding of a 'passing shower' is different to ours, we had been in one of their 'passing showers' for three hours...
We found the free campsite in xx forest. Its still amazes us how good the facilities are at Australian campsites. One doesn't have to spend a single penny to take advantage of the clean and new long-drop loos, fire pits (sometimes with gas operated bbq's) and flat, well-drained and secluded pitches in the forest.
