What a splendid ride out to Appletreewick for the Craven Arms Beer Festival with a spot of camping at the brilliant Masons Campsite, a mere 200 odd yards away.
Over the gated road, down to Bolton Abbey, via the Cav Pav – didn’t stop as there was beers to be had – took the back road – rather lumpy but I managed them. Then the road was closed to traffic, which cut down the traffic down to now’t.
Arrived at the campsite, pitched, showered and had my packed lunch, then headed to the pub. This year it was Yorkshire vs Northumberland. A few was sampled, I think that the away team put up a good brew this year. This was all “washed” down with a rather delicious steak and potato pie with mushy peas and gravy.
Somehow, the ever so comfy Exped Mat had sprung a leak while being stored. So every 30-45min I had to wake up to top it up. The Phoenix Phunnel tent that I have borrowed from Peli’s dad, did the job brilliantly as I was toasty warm and there was no condensation on the inside.
The next day I rode via Burnsall and had a recovering fry up and the brilliant cafe there. The ride home got cut short because the rain and the back roads were covered in chutney and mud. The Azub handle the extra weight very well, once I got over the slight wobble. I think it will do well with even more weight, the question is will I be able to ride up the steep hill with it?
A splendid mini fall tour it was, same again next year, oh why not 🙂
