Millslade Camping, Brendon, Lynton, North Devon, EX35 6PSDescription: (From ukcampsite.co.uk) Millslade camping site is in the heart of Exmoor national park, in the small hamlet of Brendon, Lorna Doone valley, also known as the hidden valley. We are 3 miles from Lynton and Lynmouth and 17 miles from the seaside town of Minehead. We are a small site running along the River Lyn.

Site visited: 9th July 2011.
Just outside Brendon in the Exmoor national park is the Millslade camping field which belongs to the Millslade country house, a bed and breakfast which is just down the road.

Sandwiched between the noisy River Lyn and the quiet road out of Brendon is a strip of land with a campsite. The river lacked the swing and the depth to have one, but I’m sure that that you could easily dip your toes in the water.

The site has a portaloo with just toilets and the odd place to have a fire, just remember to bring your own wood. There was a sign saying that down in the community hall was a paying for shower, but it was not in use while we were there. The only place we could find water was from a water tank on the site, which needed to be boiled before drinking.

Getting there pretty much means cycling down a 25% hill, and what comes down in the cycling world means you must come up the 25% hill, when leaving the valley. A very good way to wake your legs up in the morning on your fully loaded touring bike. I think that if you take the road that follow the river Lyn you will miss out on that “fun” but you will also miss out on the great view that you will get on the A39.

Just what we needed, though the cost was a bit dear compared to what we got.
