Description: (From their site) Camping ground “Kate”, located amongst cypress and pine trees is a green oasis only 200 m from the blue Adriatic sea, in the center of the village Mlini. Its rich natural surroundings decelerate the quick pace city lifestyle and make room for rest and renewal. The small village of Mlini stands erect at the foot of Malasnica mountain approaching the sea, only 6km from the old town Dubrovnik.
Site visited: 9th of September 2009.
As seen on the blog: Croatia day 1 : stress, what is that
We arrived at 19:45 in Dubrovnik airport and before we got our bicycle boxes and had put our bikes back together again it was nearly nine.
I had emailed the site asking if it was ok to arrive late, but had heard no reply.
But upon arrival I found a note on the reception door saying “just find a spot and enjoy your stay”. I had a quick scan around the site and the only spot I could find that was free was right next to the entrance and the Adriatic coastal road.
I’m not sure if the site was just what I saw on my quick walk around. But I only found one small toilet block with 2 power showers which were very good. And very clean toilets, two for the ladies and two for the gents.
We still managed to sleep despite the road noise. I’m sure if we were lucky to find a spot at the back of the site we wouldn’t have heard the road at all.
On the dot of eight o’clock in the morning the chef arrived as one of the staff told me he would. He ask “so you arrived ok last night”. And was truly sad to see us go so soon.
Since I only had euro notes and the cost was 10.60 euros and he too was out of coins he said the cost would be 10 euros, thanks 😉
The campsite looks like it just opened seeing the newly planted trees and by the look of the toilet block.
If you ever get to stay at this site don’t forget to visit the restaurant across the road called Flamingo. I probably had my best pasta carbonara ever there and the mushroom pizza that Peli had wasn’t shy on the mushroom either. And the portions was what a starving cycle tourer needs, plenty of.
