Campsite review of Cliff House Holiday Park, Dunwich, Suffollk, IP17 3DQ

As part of the Dunwich Dynamo, we were looking for a campsite very close to the beach were the 116 miles ride from London would end up. After the ride (with 1000+ others) and a dip in the sea in Dunwich, we cycled the one and a bit mile over to Cliff House Holiday Park.

Too bad that we were only staying one night and were very tired, so we didn’t get to enjoy this realy beautiful site.

We enjoyed a brilliant pub lunch/dinner in the pub in central building of the site, where also the mini shop is located. I picked one of the signature dishes of English pubs: bangers and mash and Peli had the mixed beans and veggies casserole.

The chef hit my stomach with some home made (I’m sure) Suffolk bangers and mash that was made just as I like it. New potatoes, boiled not peeled, a knob of butter and some milk and then lightly mashed (not into a pure, leave some lumps) namnumunumnum. All flushed with a nice pint of Adams Broadside. Peli’s casserole was very nice too, I managed to talk her into giving me a taster, all the different veggies and beans you want with a crunchy cheesy top.

The toilet block, have recently been done up and had everything you need. The only problem with this is that you could not set the heat of the shower yourself, and that caused the water in the females shower to be a tad warm.

The site is beautifully kept, play ground for the young ones and you can rent bicycles on site. And we really enjoyed that we could have a dip in the sea when we woke up in the morning.

We will make sure that we will be back again and for longer to this great campsite.

Rating:

The only set back were that we were only there for a night and the bugs that like to bite, but hey that is part of camping. Because of the chef at the pub, we were well fed and this site will get the full 5 oinks and then some.
