This was a treat to ourselves – a wonderfully comfortable haven to relax after our first experience of tandemming! A warm welcome (complete with wagging tail) awaited us at the end of a long drive (the signposting is not that great, but then we did arrive in the darkest of dark nights). Our late arrival wasn’t a problem. After safely stashing our steeds in an adjoining shed, we were ushered into our simply luxurious bedroom with a huge bed, delightful period furnishings and palacious ensuite bathroom with large bath and posh toiletries.

This B&B left quite an impression on us; just as we did on it… The pale carpet in the room was so sumptuously thick that our cycling cleats left large indentations as we padded about in the morning… oops. Our friendly hosts didn’t seem to mind.

Breakfast was excellent, from the farm’s own produce. Two happy and well-rested cyclists pedalled away from Coton Lodge the next morning, with that satisfying feeling of having parted with cash in a good cause: treating ourselves!!!
